The original proposed BOE operating budget was reduced by the Board of Finance and further by the Board of Representatives.
Come and hear the upcoming plans and more importantly, voice your concerns at the meeting:
WHAT: 2nd Public Hearing on 2019-2020 Operating Budget
WHEN: Monday, May 20, 219 at 6:15 p.m.
WHERE: Rogers International School, 202 Blachley Road
The approved budget now stands at $283,069,806.
In an effort to reallocate the budget to accommodate these reductions, Superintendent Dr. Tamu Lucero has been meeting with representatives of the SEA, the SAU, the Para Union, departments across the district and community partners to get input and suggestions. A Special Board Meeting was held on Monday, May 13, to share those suggested reductions with the Board and to solicit additional feedback and ideas.
"No one wants to make reductions in staff or services to children. However, given this substantial reduction in our initially proposed budget, the district is being forced to make difficult decisions," said Superintendent Lucero. "I am confident that with the input and support of the Board, staff, families and community, we will make the best choices for Stamford’s students and continue to provide the high quality education that we are so proud of here in Stamford."
