IB Council Fundraiser for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Pennies for Patients campaign is working with thousands of schools across the country to raise funds for blood cancer research--and we are one of them!

Rogers IB Council is kicking off a 3 week campaign this coming Monday (3/25) to raise $$$ for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a cause especially relevant to our community having a direct current impact on certain of our RIS students and their families. We are asking for your support.

One of our IB Council "action crew" members will be delivering a package of the following materials to each Homeroom teacher Monday,

  • Homeroom Collection Box- already assembled with HR teacher's name and room # labeled

  • Homeroom "Donation Meter' poster- please display in a prominent location and use to track the total your HR students raise throughout the campaign

  • Homeroom Teacher "Student PRIZE tracking sheet"- please list your HR student's names and keep a running record of the prizes they've earned. Our IB Council action crew members will be collecting these about once/week during the campaign to deliver to the students in each Hr the prizes they have earned.

  • Student Collection Box- (1/student)-each student will house their spare change/donations in his/her own collection box, bring in to their HR teacher, report the total amount collected so that their teacher can record it on their tracking sheet, and then deposit it into the HR box.

  • Parent Letter-please pass out in homeroom and strongly encourage students to give it to their parents to read/get involved.

These materials are all being used to facilitate our CHANGE WARS fundraising action. It is one of 4 separate actions this year's IB Council leaders came up with to promote our involvement in their fundraising efforts of LLS.

Our IB Council leaders, Ms. Cummings and the LLS CT coordinators have teamed up to offer students the following incentives for this action,

  • The Upper School HR and Lower School HR that raise the most will earn to trip to the KONA Ice Cream Truck this Spring.

  • The students in the HR that raises the most for their grade level will also earn a special prize (to be determined) this spring

  • Students will have the chance to collect/earn individual prizes including rings, bracelets, key chains and T-shirts.

Please encourage students to be active participants in this school wide event.

Our other IB Council leaders and their crew members are equally excited about their actions which include

  • Wall of Hope

  • Make Cancer Disappear

  • Chuck Your Change

Check the Main hallway displays on the windows across from the cafeteria and gym starting Monday for the details of each action... the what, where, when, why and how.

You'll see these students of ours "in action" over the next few weeks working tirelessly to make a difference, to be part of a "hero squad" for those children and their families faced with these forms of cancer. Can we match their energy and enthusiasm? I think so!

While I've got you, can you take 2 minutes, connect to the link below, and share the first clip with your class? It features Sam, a red-headed boy with a story worth watching. The 35 6th-8th grade IBC members really thought it was worth a look too and would help to get us all on board. Check it out here:

If you have any questions, please contact Mr Staley.

As always, very big THANK YOU for your support!

A very BIG thank you for your support of our student leaders in these efforts for LLS and getting the message out to our parents and other community members.
